FAQs

Why teletherapy?

The pandemic forced us all to change. I was required to stop seeing clients in-person, so I moved to a telehealth platform. At first, I was worried about not having the same level of connection that we did in-person. Pretty quickly, though, I saw that most clients really like telehealth. I think you'll like it, too! There's something comforting about sessions in the safety of your home. There's no hassle of driving to an office, and without the commute time it's easier to schedule a session into your day. Teletherapy works for most people, and a lot of my clients now prefer it over their in-person sessions.

More about teletherapy:

I use a secure platform for our sessions. When it's time to start, I will send a session link to your email. For your convenience, I offer both video and phone sessions.

What ages do you work with?

I work with children ten-years-old all the way to late adulthood. I have the most experience working with clients in their 20's-30's and teens.

What is your full session fee?

$150 for a 50-minute session.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept payment through a HIPAA compliant platform called Ivy Pay. We will set this up together in our first session. Through Ivy Pay, I can accept all major credit cards and HSA/HFA cards.

Do you accept health insurance?

No, I do not accept health insurance. I can't currently take it, and I'm not sure if I ever will be interested in taking it. I want to work for you, not your insurance company. I want to protect your privacy as much as possible, and working with insurance I can't do that. This means I'm also not bound to the limitations insurance places on clients for the number of times they can be seen or the type of therapy we do together. I can customize your treatment plan according to what you want--not what your insurance company wants. There are other reasons that I would be happy to discuss in a consultation.

Do you offer sliding scale fees?

"Sliding scale" means a discounted rate based on income. I have a limited number of sliding scale spots. Please contact me to discuss. You can also find me on the Open Path website: https://openpathcollective.org/clinicians/shae-loucks/
